What a great day! It was just inspiring to see Lanciato produce another electrifying ‘last to first’ finish in the Group 3 Suez Newcastle Newmarket Handicap over 1400m. Trailing last until the 200m mark, he just blitzed the field to cross the line first. On watching the race replay Lanciato seemed to win with consummate ease, winning by well over a length. However, watching the race live was a bit more harrowing and not recommended for the faint hearted.

Both the trainer and part owner Peter Coffee had their extended families present at Newcastle which added to the emotion of the day. While Hong Kong based owner Derek Tam tuned into the race to join in the excitement.

Jockey Rachel King rode Lanciato in her usual patient way, validating yet again what a lethal combination horse and jockey have become. Rachel even took the colours home after the race for ‘safe keeping’ until our next big challenge, The Doncaster Mile at Randwick.

It is such a thrill to be associated with this horse and the mere possibility of him running in the Doncaster would be the realisation of a lot of dreams held by all the connections.

Dare to dream the dream!
