Victory Day

“Hellelujah, you have won the victory, Hellalujah you have won it all for me” or so the anthem goes. It really was quite a victory with Victory Anthem winning the Flamingo Florist Maiden Plate over 1400m at Nowra on Sunday 30th April 2017.

Not only was it a great pleasure to get another winner for Derek Tam and Peter Coffey (Lanciato won the day before at Hawkesbury for the same connections), but our very own Robbie Dolan was the winning rider.

This affable, hard-working young man registered a winner on his very first ride in Australia, laying the foundation for a great riding career to come.

Victory Anthem (by Darci Brahma NZ out of Battocchi NZ) secured poll position after jumping from barrier 5. Robbie showing great maturity, kept hold of his mount even after being challenged by Fortunately, the second favourite. He did let loose though at about the 200m mark to increase his lead by 3 lengths and crossing the finishing line first. Coming back to scale his beaming smile lit up the whole racecourse.

Special thanks to our first-time strapper Paula Newnham. Well done Everyone.
