When a young Tom Sherry strapped a horse, I Am Power in Ireland in 2017 for trainer Michael O’Callaghan, little did he know that he would one day be riding him to victory half-way across the world. It must have seemed very surreal when the pair were reunited at Rosehill on Saturday 24th May 2021.
Yet, I Am Power (Power, GB/Bridge Note, USA) has his own story, from showing promise in Ireland he was purchased to race in Hong Kong, from there injury sent him into early retirement to New Zealand where he would eventually arrive at our stable at Warwick Farm.
I Am Power showed that he had lost none of his grit and determination to win when taking out the Acy Securities Handicap over 1200m. It was a very exciting finish with Rammstein running second and race favourite Blondeau coming in third.
It was great to secure the win for his owners Derek Tam and Peter Coffey who previously entrusted us with their other import Lanciato (Per Incanto/Surreptitious). Congratulations to you both and thank you for your continued support.
