With a public starved of live entertainment due to Sydney’s latest Covid 19 Lockdown, the first day back for racegoers was always going to be electric. Saturday 16th October 2021, Everest Day with the crowd capped at 10,000 patrons, they took the event to a whole new level.

Race 6 saw our very own Big Parade (Deep Field/Crystal Rock) taste victory in the Group 3 Sydney Stakes over 1200m. This horse although never having run badly, had been tainted with a reputation for being ‘inconsistent’. Well today he showed what a complete racehorse he has become, not only is he consistent but he demonstrated just how versatile he can be. Able to run on wet or dry tracks, lead or take a sit and now maintaining his composure in the parade ring. The consummate professional.

A wonderful ride by Jockey Josh Parr saw him give Big Parade a wake-up call around the 500m mark and the gelding responded accordingly, winning by over a length.

Thank you to all our staff, but especially track rider Aaron Lau who rides Big Parade every day. Congratulations to owners Steve and Jenny Summers and all connections, including those that kept the faith.
