The sun was setting as they headed off to the barriers for race three at Canterbury, 13th November 2020. The dusk had created hazy shadows as the backdrop to the race on this Black Friday and first night meeting for the season.

The eleven-horse field were loaded up to contest the Urbanista Handicap over 1900m. Gone Bye (Al Maher/Gone Platinum) jumped from barrier 4 and immediately took control of the race, striding out to take the lead. From there he comfortably held the front position until the 250m mark when he kicked away and won by an impressive 3 lengths.

Rated superbly by Apprentice Jockey Tom Sherry and sporting the colours of the Owners and Breeders, the Chalmers Family (Light Blue, Black Seams & Sleeves, Seams on Cap & Pom Pom) it was such a great thrill.

Congratulations to Maureen and the rest of the Chalmers family on Gone Bye’s inspiring win.
