The day, 29th December 2021 started out rainy and overcast but it wasn’t long before the sunshine prevailed, making for a great day’s racing at Gosford for their showcase meeting.

Race two, saw Shadow Devil (Capitalist/Cloak of Night) make his race debut, taking out the Narara Plumbing Maiden Plate over (1100m). Teaming up with rider Tom Sherry, this handsome 3-year-old colt sailed home with the utmost ease. Still green but with plenty of potential, he is yet another great purchase by David Lui for the SE brand.

Honours for race 7, the feature race the Gosford RSL Belle of The Turf Stakes over 1600m, belong to gorgeous chestnut mare Expat (Makfi/Utmost Caution).  Again, partnered by rider Tom Sherry, she fought off the race favourite Brookspire (Hinchinbrook/Be Inspired) in an epic battle down the straight. The tough Expat refused to surrender, scoring by a neck in the exciting finish.

Congratulations to owner and breeder Tony McGrath, who had to be content with watching the win from his home in Port Douglas.

A very challenging year has been had by all, so it was a great way to see out the year with a double. Can’t wait to see what 2022 will
