A rare Saturday meeting at Hawkesbury saw the stable take out a double, today 6th March 2021. One winner came while making her race debut and the other, a seasoned campaigner deserved of the win, both ridden by Stable Apprentice Tom Sherry.
A Very Fine Red (Deep Field/Italian Storm) tasted victory in the Wasteflex Maiden Plate over 1100m. She jumped well from a wide gate, crossed over to sit just off the fence. At the turn she came out about four off the fence with race favourite Bayliks (Lonhro/Ottoman) joining her. The duel continued up the straight with the tough debutant ultimately taking out the honours in race 3.
The next winner came in race 5 where Shadow Bridge (War/Crevasse) triumphed in the Castlereagh Feeds Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap over 1100m. He jumped best, but from the widest barrier and waited for the opportunity to cross over to travel closer to the fence. He led to the turn where he came out wider into the straight, pulling away at the 200m mark to score the win.
Congratulations to all owners and connections and a special mention to the Queen, Robyn Fowler who once again had a winning day at Hawkesbury.
