It gave us immense pleasure to train our first winner for Geoff and Mary Grimish. Their filly Invictus Salute (Exceed and Excel/Acquired NZ), did indeed salute at Hawkesbury on Tuesday 17thApril 2018, taking out the Schweppes 2yo Maiden Plate over 1100m. Jockey Tim Clark jumped from barrier 4 and immediately took control of the race, leading from start to finish. The application of blinkers helped to turn the filly’s form around completely from her last start debut, where she found plenty of trouble and finished near the rear of the field.

The distinctive Grimish colours of black with grey diagonal stripes have been associated with many good horses of recent times and we hope to add Invictus Salute to their notable list with many more wins to come.

The filly is named in honour of the Invictus Games, an international sporting event that the Grimish family are closely involved with. The Games, founded by His Royal Highness Prince Harry, are this year to be hosted in Sydney during October. Participants include veterans, wounded, ill, or injured all coming together from all over the world to celebrate competition and friendship, while bringing awareness and support for those who have served their country.
