A sunny but cold winter’s day at Hawkesbury did little to dampen the enthusiasm of loyal owners, when Kittyhawk Flyer (More Than Ready/Wings of Success) scored in the first race. She took out the Bert Heterick Memorial Maiden Plate, held on Sunday 13th June 2021 over 1000m, much to the delight of her all-female ownership group.

‘Kitty’ jumped well from barrier 5 allowing others to kick up on her inside, taking a sit just off the pace. Ridden masterfully by jockey Sam Clipperton, she came wide on the turn, staking her claim to take the lead in the straight. In the end, winning comfortably by three quarters of a length, easing down.

Kittyhawk Flyer has had more than her fair share of issues early on, making victory today all the more sweeter. Congratulations and thank you to her very patient owners. Go Kitty!
