The regally bred King Frankel IRE (Frankel GB/You’ll Be Mine USA), continued his winning ways by taking out the Listed Parramatta Cup over 1900m at Rosehill Gardens today, Saturday 18th February 2023.

Ridden by Apprentice Jockey Tyler Schiller, he jumped from barrier 7. Progressing forward he was kept wide before slotting in second position one off the fence allowing the speed to continue upfront. King Frankel was kept comfortable while tearaway leader Banju (Benfica/Overlooked) was now 5 lengths in front by the 1200m mark. By the time they turned for home Banju had come back to the field but was still going strong. Continuing down the straight it wasn’t until the 300m mark that King Frankel and Banju eye-balled each other. It was such a thrilling finish with each horse determined to dominate, with King Frankel lifting on the line to take out the win.

Congratulations to Darby Syndications and their group of Owners. Such a gutsy win, exhilarating yet exhausting at the same time for all of us on-lookers. Special mention to the second placed horse Banju who was gallant in defeat.
