Saturday 5th March 2022 and Sydney was gifted a short reprieve from the onslaught of rain we have endured for weeks to be able to enjoy a great day’s racing at Randwick Racecourse. Although track conditions were rated a Heavy 10, it didn’t worry Seven Veils (Shalaa/Mesmereyeser) when taking on the other fillies in the Yarraman Park Reisling Stakes over 1200m.

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy saw her jump well enough to take up front position on the fence. From there she was kept comfortable and well within herself to lead all the way. With exception to a short lack of concentration when she shied at the winning post, it was a very easy watch. Seven Veils was well clear of her rivals at the finishing line when she tasted victory and earnt herself a berth in the Golden Slipper in two weeks’ time.

Congratulations to owner/breeders, Doctors Paul Hughes and Chris Rogers, exciting times lie ahead.
