Sixgun (Snitzel/Acquired) made his debut at Canterbury on Wednesday, 10 June 2020, taking out the Harry Angel @ Darley Handicap over 1100m, holding up the family tradition. This talented colt is a full brother to the Group 2 Arrowfield Stakes winning Splintex, with both horses owned and bred by Geoff and Mary Grimish.

In wintery conditions, Sixgun jumped from Barrier 9 and settled near the rear of the field. Ridden by now non-claiming apprentice jockey Robbie Dolan, he carried 58kg on a rain affected track, rated a Heavy 9. Still lagging in the trying circumstances, but urged on by Robbie, it wasn’t until the turn that he seemed to shift into another gear. Picking up the leader and favourite in Camerlengo (More Than ready/Gamble Me) with ease and surging  ahead for the win, making it look stress-free in the heavy going. Both horse and rider returned to scale with mud-caked faces, but it did not appear to bother either in the slightest.

Sixgun possesses rock star looks and knows it, he is often a handful but today he showed what star material he really is.  Congratulations to the Grimish Family on another promising colt.
