The speedy youngster, Splintex (Snitzel/Acquired) took out the first on the Kensington Track at Randwick today 4thMay 2019. Jumping from a tricky barrier, the widest of nine, that in the end was of no concern. Josh Parr jumped him out a length clear and headed his mount towards the fence. From there he gave an impressive front running display, posting a track record for 2yo’s, covering 1000m in 56.55 seconds.

As his name suggests Splintex went like ‘a little bullet’ for owners Mary and Geoff Grimish, one of the nicest couples in racing. Geoff is a Vietnam veteran and tries to name most of his horses with a military flavour. Hence Splintex, a type of ammunition used in a famous battle that Geoff fought in. It’s use resulted in saving many lives.

Plenty in store for this promising colt, which will more than likely have one more run before taking a well-earned rest.
