The first of a winning treble for the stable happened today at Doomben 1st June 2019. Shadow Hero (Pierro/Sookie) saluted in race 1, winning the listed The Pheonix, over 1630m for owners David Lui and the Sweetbriar Equine Syndicate. Initially he was back in the field, but a patient ride by jockey Blake Shinn found horse and rider calmly waiting for the anticipated gap to come. Ears back, in the style of his sire, Shadow Hero took on the opposition, attacking the line with sheer determination to win. A great win by a very promising horse.
The second winner at Doomben occurred in race 2, the listed Oxlade stakes over 1200m. With another brilliant riding display by Shinn, Diamond Thunder (Dawn Approach/Kwinana) stormed home after blistering speed upfront left the front runners unable to sustain the pace. Leaving Diamond Thunder to run over the top of them once he could get clear. It was wonderful to have Patrick Lee, who selected and purchased the horse in 2018 in town again to frequent the Magic Millions sales, represent his father in law Mr KK Ng for the race.
In between these two amazing triumphs (the stable had never won at Doomben racetrack before) another win had taken place below the border, at Rosehill. A stable favourite Splintex (Snitzel/Acquired) took out race 1, a 2yo handicap over 1100m for Geoff and Mary Grimish. His impressive gate speed saw Rachel King find the fence and dominate the race throughout. He courageously defended late challenges from Rotator and the fast finishing Exceedance. He is a little horse but with a big heart and an even bigger future.
It was an unforgettable day for the stable. Congratulations to all of our winning owners and connections. Thank you for your continued support and may we share many more days like this one.
