The transition in seasons saw some rain head our way, producing a heavy track at Kembla Grange, Tuesday 28th March 2023. The rating of a Heavy 8 had Troika (Russian Revolution/Novel Dancer) revelling in the conditions. So much so that he managed to take out race 5 the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club Handicap over 1000m with consummate ease.

The 3-year-old gelding jumped only fairly from barrier 3, finding the fence he was closer to the rear of the field. At the turn the entire field fanned out, leaving clear passage along the fence. Encouraged by jockey Tom Sherry, Troika took the run offered up the inside and headed for home. Once clear, he accelerated and came away to win spectacularly by 3.5 lengths.

Congratulations to the ownership group, Louis and Jill Mihalyka and the team at Laurel Oak Bloodstock. Thank you to jockey Tom Sherry for a great ride too.
